Camera Workshop 2
The class started by learning about the 180
degree rule to understand how it would be confusing as an audience that if you
change the side that you film from. We learned this by using a white line and you were only allowed to film on one side of it.
We were then taught how to create a sequence
using many different typed of camera angles such as close ups and mid long
shots. My group
filmed a very basic sequence of someone putting on a jumper and then walking
off. This helped us to gain a basic understanding of
how to record and use the cameras.
·
We started with a wide angle
shot first as it set the scene of the piece and clearly shows what is going on
·
We then did a close up of
the Jumper that he had picked up to give the audience a better idea of what it
was that he was doing and what he was picking up. We did this at the height the
jumper was at and when we filmed the man walking past we would film at the
height of his face so it didn’t make him look either powerful or weak but just
normal
·
We then did a panoramic close up of him
walking away whilst putting the jumper on to see his facial expression
We also learned about call outs such as ‘set’
and ‘camera rolling’ this was to ensure that everyone was ready in their roles
and that no mistakes were made before we had started filming. We also used ‘action’
and ‘cut’ to signify the start and the end of the shoot
We also used marks so that the actor would know
where to stop and to pick up the jumper and to stand so we could gain the close
up of them much easier rather than having to move the camera to find them which
would make the video look poor.
Before each new shoot we would role the camera
for a few extra seconds because it allowed us time to cut when we edit the
piece and to also make sure that everything was running well with the camera.
