making of the website
This is a screen recording speeded up of me making part of the website online on Wix. This has been speeded up a lot in order for me to be able to fit a lot of the content in. I realise it is is not the most interesting method however it is very useful in showing how we were able to make the website.
rough cut of music video
This is a rough cut of our music video that Guy has made and we are very close to finishing the final cut. This will hopefully be uploaded to youtube in the next week.
This is a good first rough cut I feel and that some progress has definatly been made and that the video is looking good. I think that the final aspects that could be added could be the colour grading and the framing of the shots.

To prepare for our focus group we all made some questions to ask the group about our music campaign.

Questions for focus groups.
Website
1. What genre do you think this is?
2. Do the colours work on the website? What colours would you use?
3. Do you think that the website is easy to navigate?
4. Do you think that the social media links are easy to access and
realistic for an artist?
5. Does the album connect to the website?
6. Do you feel there is necessary information about the artist and what he
is doing at the time? e.g. tours.
7. Do you think there is enough about the artist or is there more needed?
8. Do you think that the links on the website are all relevant and needed
and what more could be added?
9. Do you think there are enough photos on the website or do more need to
be more?
10.
Is there anything that you
don’t like and if not what would you change?
Questions for focus groups music video.
• Were you kept engaged throughout?
• What did you understand about the
concept of the video?
• Does it link with the digipak and
website?
• Does there need to be more about
the main artist or less?
• Does there
need to be more about the dancers or less?
• Did the
transitions between the sets work well?
• Do you think
that there should be more focus in the sets inside or the ice cream van at the
start?
Digipak -
Sean
• What genre of music would you
expect having seen the album pack
• Would you buy this album? - Does
it look professional
• What impressions do you get of
the artist being promoted?
• What do you like/dislike about
the pack?
• Do you like the color?
• what would you change
• what mood does the artwork give
off to you?
We all thought of these questions together and decided that we should definatly use the questions for the website and digipack first otherwise they would get an idea about what genre we were trying to promote before we were able to ask them what they thought it was.
We used all of the questions that we did as we thought that they would all be relevent in making sure that we were able to see what people thought about our campaign and ways in which we could make it better. We also wanted to make sure our genre is clearly shown throughout this is why all three sections have this question.

what is a focus group
the definition of a focus group is "a group of people assembled to participate in a discussion about a product before it is launched, or to provide feedback on a political campaign, television series, etc." In this case we will be using the focus group to look at the three elements of our music campaign. We will be presenting all of our three elements to a group of people in the year below us.
The point of the focus group is so that we are able to distinguish where the weak points in our campaign there are and in what areas they don't link together. We thought that this would be a good point to test out our products as at this time we have a lot to show and have an almost complete product. This is also a good time as if there is something that they feel need changing and something that could be improved we would have time to do so before the deadline.
This is a great way for us to get feedback for out digipacks as it is able to get the opinion of a lot of people. this would also mean that even if one person is able to find something small that is a problem we will be able to change it as if we only presented it to one person they may not pick up of it.
We decided that there we two ways in which we would be able to record all of the advice that we were able to get. Firstly we thought that if we were to record their voices and then put that up on the blog this would be a good way or record them in some other way such as a video. The other method that we thought could be usfull would just to be note it down on the computer and put it directly onto the blog from there.
There are several things that we want to find out as a group and also individually. As a group we wanted to make sure that all our individual parts of the digipack were linked in some kind of way and that they all went with the genre of psychedelic rock and this was clearly visable in all. However for me being the creater of the website I wanted to find out about the presentation of the website and to see if it was appealing to them. I also wanted to find out about how easy it was for them to use the website and to see if they would be able to operate it easily and be easy to access and finally to see if all the points that were on the website were relevent.
We all thought that it might have been a good idea to start with the album artwork and the website first as we wouldn't want to give away the genre too early on at the start so that we would be able to get the opinion of what they thought the genre was. We also wanted to do this so that they would be able to see the clear link between the websites the digipacks and so that they were able to link the the music video.
There were also several things that we were advised not to do on our focus group. One of the main things was not to ask about if they liked the video and what could they change in the way it was filmed as it was too late to change now and that we wont be able to shoot again. Another thing that we would't want to do is to argue with the people in the focus group so that if they say something wrong we would instead ask them what we could do instead.
Finally there were a few steps that we needed to go through in order to make sure that our focus group was ready. First of all we all prepared some questions about the certain areas that we had been making so for me I made ten questions about the website and how it could improve. We also wanted to make sure that we had all the parts of our presentation for the focus group ready. For me it was reletively simple. I needed to just put the website up onto the bigger screen however for the other two they needed to get a copy of the work they had done outside of class as well and bring it to the class in preperation for the focus group.

rough draft of website.
As a group we are hoping to try and complete as much as we can before we go away for christmas and if possable be finished completely before we go away. Earlier this week I made my first draft of our website. These photos are the first draft that I've created.
This was the homepage that I created. I used these colours and strange patterns to go with the genre conventions and to create the movement in the background to make it more interactive.
what should be on a website?
· I feel that a website has many parts that are vital for a successful music campaign. First of all they need to make sure they have an engaging home page. This can be done in a range of ways such as an engaging and interactive website, a video in the background or even just photos that are likely to get the audiences attention.
On the website they also need to be able to inform the audience of what is going on. This can be done in a veriety of ways such as telling them their next live performances and also informing them of thier new music that will be coming out. These are vital on a website.
A website is also a good place to earn money. here they are able to promote their music and put in on sale. They are also able to sell a lot of their merchandise here. though in terms of the amount made it is not very very much however it is also vital in creating the star image of the artists.
The artist may also want on their website to have their latest video on thier website this may also be to try and create the star image that they are looking for and it may also just to be to advertise the video, the music and themselves further.

Tame Impala home page analysis.
Although at first the tame Impala website doesn't seem that impressive with just the album artwork of all their songs and past albums. However when you notice that the album artwork starts to move.
Once on the website there are a few ways in which they play around with it. We can clearly tell that their hompage is mainly focused on thier artwork and this is what they are trying to show of. This is done in two ways to create a very interactive page. They have first done this by enabling us to move the home page around to see all of thier artwork. They also let us click on the artwork which allows us to see it in more detail. this helps to create a star image for the band as it doesn't show them themselves so there is a greater demand for them when it comes to seeing them live as they are not seen very often in other ways such as on their website.
This is the first part of the homepage we see however there is also a pop up ad of their new video which come just before. This is the video that we first see when going onto their website.

website why they are used
A website is used by a band for several reasons. -
Firstly they use websites to To inform the fans. This is an effective and free way of advertisement and letting them know of upcoming events. They are also used to Sell merchandise and promote and sell album which would gain the artists themselves more money. this is also done by selling thier tickets on their website for their live shows. This is also useful especially for smaller artists as people will then be able to contact them and try and talk to them about future signings and performances that they can do. And finaly it is a direct link to the audience going well with Dyers star theory making them easily accessable to see however still not completely accessible.

Colours

Too bright
colours
Inside of album artwork
Like the
idea of the close up but need to match the colours.
Not much
going on.
From this I was able to see that there wasn't very much there and that it was a quite boring from spine and back, My group also didnt like the colours that I had used for it.
They did like however the way that it was laid out with the patterns and the ice cream and the strange shot of the artist as these all went with the conventions.
They also liked the idea on the inside of the close up however they said that I needed to match the colours.
my group said they could clearly see the genre was correct here and I believe I was able to create the star image of making him present, however, also making him strange and distant from the audience.
